Captain Vegemite, paraphrasing Listmom's edict says: By the midnight hour, when the clock in the village square strikes, on the 14th day of the Christmas month the curse will be lifted from ye shoulders of ye of the zipped mouth and ye shall join the celebrations, so it has been ordained by the High Priestess .. LISTMOM ... and, by the village clock of ye internet, it is now well past the time. Ye are all hereby invited to join the celebrations of this the 13th Annual Cornish List Christmas Party, leaving behind (if you wish) your drab, everyday identity and becoming anyone or anything you ever dreamed of ... just like Captain Vegemite himself!
Listmom's drab, everday actual words were:
Folks,
Posts for the annual Christmas Party will begin on Monday Dec 14th and not one minute before :-)!
Do NOT post ANY party messages until that date! Do NOT post any party messages to CORNISH-GEN.
ALL Party posts must contain "Party 2009" (without the quotes) in the subject line. Feel free to add other descriptives such as "Party 2009 Transportation" or "Party 2009 Location".
Any newbies who wish information email me privately please (ybowers@gmail.com) . The Virtual Christmas Party posts are quite numerous. Listers who do not wish to participate either delete or filter out Party messages or unsubscribe until after Christmas. For a sampling visit http:/archiver.rootsweb.com and either search on "Party" or browse the December postings for each year. It's a lot of fun re-reading those posts.
We pause here for a minute in silent adoration of our beloved LISTMOM, who watches over us all, making sure that we do not stray from the path of righteousness. We want her to know that we, her faithful people, will not go off worshipping golden idols of licentiousness and frivolity ... well, not for long anyway. We promise, that when our days of mirth and jest are over, we shall return in all solemnity to the Land of List, sober and upright in the knowledge that we can devote the year ahead to renewing and increasing our Cornish ties.
HAIL TO THE HOMELAND
Hail to the homeland
Great bastion of the free
Hear now thy children
Proclaim their love for thee
Ageless thy splendour,
Undimmed the Celtic flame.
Proudly our souls reflect
The glory of thy name.
Sense now the beauty
The peace of Bodmin moor
Ride with the breaker
Towards the Sennen shore.
Let firm hands fondle
The boulders of Trencrom
Sing with all fervour then,
The great Trelawney song.
Hail to the Homeland
Of thee we are a part
Great pulse of freedom
In every Cornish heart
Prompt us and guide us,
Endow us with thy power,
Lace us with liberty
To face this changing hour.
LET THE PARTY BEGIN!!!
